What Are Analyst Ratings?

Analyst ratings are the product of many hours of hard work (researching companies, customers, financials, and more) by investing professionals who sum up an asset/stock with a numerical score or a recommendation. Using these ratings is crucial for the individual investor who lacks the time to conduct in-depth research.

Along with the ratings, analysts give short & long-term forecasts. They will give a price range from worst-case scenario to best-case (bearish or bullish). They will also sometimes tell you if they believe a certain stock will underperform or over-perform within its sector and the broader market. The analysts will usually issue their ratings/reports 4 times per year (quarterly).
